I revamped my pirate coat pattern : )

I have been enjoying the Holidays : ) Here's my latest creation:

I finally finished my Frodo Coat!!! It looks fabulous : ) Now I need to make the vest.

My latest project was a Harry Potter robe in the Slytherin House colors:

This is what I've been working on! I'm finally caught up on all my custom orders. YAY!! It's time for a holiday : )



Whew! Lots of work.

I have been absolutely swamped! Thanks : ) I've also been phasing out my ebay store and relocating the items to this website store. I added the fellowship cloak yesterday. YAY!

Here's the Frodo coat! I still need to hem and press and add the buttons plus the waist and cuff band thingys. But, I think it's looking fantastic : )

I have been having so much fun lately : ) I finally got the Harry Potter pattern finished and I'll post pictures as soon as it stops raining outside. I haven't made the mock up yet, though. I also drafted a youth size Jedi robe pattern. I finished the Jedi robe and I'll work on the tunics later this week! I played with my Frodo coat also. I need to attach the sleeves and the lining and I hope to post pictures soon!

I still have some work to do on my Harry Potter robe. I need to work on the collar. I've got to draft the hood seam out and make make the front and hood all one piece. A little more difficult than I first thought : )

I had to stop work on the Frodo coat for a few more days : ( But, I did finish a Harry Potter/ Hermione robe. It's awesome! I'll post pictures tomorrow!

Woohoo! I absolutely love the miniature Jack Sparrow Costume! I made this in a child size 6-8. It is so cute with the weskit, shirt, sash and bandana with beads : ) That was too much fun to make.


Thanks for all the questions about the Frodo coat! I will resume work on the Frodo coat tomorrow : )

Well, to be completely honest, I didn't even touch the Frodo coat this week. I've gotten many requests for child size costumes. So, I spent a few days drafting the Strider jerkin + red shirt and Jack Sparrow weskit + shirt in children's sizes. It was so much fun and the outfits are adorable. I'll post pictures tomorrow : 0 )

I worked on the Frodo Coat today and it's going very well. I have half of it assembled. Sorry I didn't get pictures : ( I'll be sure to take pictures tomorrow and construct the other half!

Yay! I got the Frodo Coat cut out!! I absolutely love this fabric. I should be able to start piecing it together tomorrow. I'll be sure to post pictures.

I worked on my Frodo Coat today. I'm very happy with the pattern. I should be able to cut the wool and start construction this week : )

I'm still here folks! I haven't blogged in a few days, sorry. I'm still getting caught up on all my orders! I might have to close down my ebay store for awhile : )

I'm getting caught up on all my custom orders! I've also been working on the Frodo waistcoat. I had to re draft some of the pattern pieces. In the meantime, here's a real cool photo to look at!

Wow! I've been absolutely swamped with custom orders! I'm completely booked until September. I'll still be working special projects for the blog, though. I've decided to recreate another Frodo coat : ) I have the muslin ready to stitch and I should be able to post pics soon!

The blue velvet doublet is finished.

I just need to add the waist picadills, collar and lining. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Over the next few days, I'll be working on and posting pictures of a blue velvet Renaissance Style Doublet.

I had a wonderful time today constructing my pirate head scarf. I really like the look of Jack Sparrow's head scarf in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean so I used it as my inspiration. I made the beads detachable so that the scarf can be laundered : )

Here's my final version of Eowyn's Shield Maiden vest sans trim. I decided to have it lace up the back so I can wear it to Renaissance Faires also.

I finished the shield maiden vest. I should be able to post pictures in the morning : ) It turned out really nice.

It was a beautiful day for sailing!

I just returned from vacation and I'm ready to finish Eowyn's Shield Maiden Dress. I'll post some vacation pictures after I've had my coffee : )

I've made wonderful progress on my Eowyn Shield Vest. I still need to add the bodice trim and add the grommets and lace to the back. I think I'm going to have to add a little boning to the back at the grommets for stability.

I've been working on Eowyn's Shield Maiden Dress / Corset. I've decided to draft out the gathers in the front at the bustline. I also added 2 inches to the length and altered the curve at the bottom. I need to decide on trim.I will post pictures later today.

Well, I started on my mockup of Eowyn's corset. I'm going to have it lace completely up the back and add a modesty panel. I need to add the wings or caps to the shoulders. I'm also going to add an inch to the shoulder seam to drop the bust line and add an inch to the length. The waist was a perfect fit. Here it is so far...

Okay, so I couldn't decide between drafting Eowyn's brown corset or Harry Potter's robe next. I'm going to construct both at the same time : ) This should be interesting. I hope I don't get too confused!

Yay! I finished my Jack Sparrow vest / weskit! I'm thrilled with how it turned out!! I had to alter the mockup a little...I cut the vest smaller and added the back laced pieces for a better fit.


Now that it's finished, I think I'll list it on ebay : )

I'm going to draft Harry Potter's POA robe next. Woo hoo!

Yay! I just need to add the buttonholes and buttons on the pockets and down the front. I think I'll place the pockets a few inches lower on my weskit. The length is perfect, though.

I've been working on the weskit today. I like how it's turning out but it's too big for me : ( It'll fit a man's size 40 chest. So, I'll finish this weskit and then cut the pattern down to fit me.

I started on my Jack Sparrow pirate style weskit. I drafted the muslin mockup up and then started on my first version of the weskit.

This is the weskit design that I plan on altering this week. This is a size XXL and I need to cut it down. It should be easy enough. I want it to look more like Jack Sparrow's weskit. I found the perfect fabric.

fin! I finished the Pirate Coat inspired by the character Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. I love how it turned out.

I've decided to put the Weskit on the design board next. I've already got a good design but it's an XXL so I need to resize it. Should be fun and a lot quicker than the coat.

I should have pictures of the finished pirate coat tomorrow : ) YAY!

I still have to attach the lining, tack the side vents, make front buttonholes and attach buttons. I should be finished in no time : )

I've been out of commission for a few days and should get back into the swing of things this weekend.

I took a few hours but I finally got my new pirate style shirt listed in my ebay store! YAY!

New pictures! I attached the front to back today. I'll work on the sleeves tomorrow. It's looking more like a coat!

I did a little more work on the pockets today. I should be able to post new pictures tomorrow. It's looking real nice!

I put the pockets in the pirate coat and interfaced the front today. This part is slow going but the rest should move pretty quickly. I'll work on the lining pleats and side pleats tomorrow : )

Well, I worked on the pirate coat and was able to put in the back seam and pleat. It looks great but still has to be pressed. I can't find my interfacing for the front. I'll have to buy more tomorrow and then I can attach the front to the back. I lightened the photo a little so the pleats can stand out a little more.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I plan on cutting out the pirate coat. That should be fun. I can't wait to get back to work on it. I also have a new pattern for a weskit design running around in my head. I need to get that on the drawing board : )

Yay! I added a new style shirt. I widened the collar and eliminated the grommets and leather tie to make this Pirate style shirt.

I resized my pattern and transfered the markings for the side and back pleats and buttonholes. This is the muslin or mockup for the front and back of the pirate / Jack Sparrow frock coat. I need to add the sleeves tomorrow and then I'll be ready to cut the fabric.

Weellll, I didn't get anywhere near the pirate coat today. I worked on a couple of doublets and shirts. But, I should be able to start the pirate coat soon. I'd like to start drafting Jack Sparrow's weskit and coat also. Should be lots of fun : )I gotta remember to take pictues! Lots and lots of pictures.

I'll be busy today resizing my pirate coat pattern. The pattern fits a 40 inch chest and I need to cut it down to a 34. I should be able to post pictures of the muslin and work in progress. I'm also working on some Strider stuff : )

Oh, and I can't decide....should I cast my vote for Rudy or Rupert? ....decisions, decisions!
